Guys Djokovic didn't even play bad. He could've slayed anyone else on this day. It was just that Nadal was so good to be beaten.

I can't believe I can say this, but I started playing tennis at the age of 15 specifically when Nadal upset Federer in the Semifinals and went on to win his first French Open.

I was inspired because I never witnessed a player so razor-focused, hard-working, and who runs down every shot as if it's his last. Many players are inspired by Federer's ease, god-given talent, and grace in play. But for me, it was witnessing a player like Nadal who will work THOUSAND times harder than anyone else to win.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised that, 16 years later, I would witness Nadal winning his 13th French Open to tie Federer for overall Grand Slams! So proud to say I grew up witnessing Nadal's greatness every step of the way :).

In all my years watching tennis, I've never seen anyone dominate a surface like Rafa dominates clay. And not just clay, this particular tournament (Roland Garros). Damn! Nothing absolutely nothing works in there against him when he is in shape. We're talking about Novak Djokovic, Rafa's nemesis and he destroyed him like he was nothing. Novak did so too last year at the AO2019 but damn Rafa gave him a bagel and a 6-2 for 2 sets! This defeat was even worse.

Whenever there's doubt about any of the "big three" - the form, the health, the conditions, even the age - he just reinvents himself and puts on a show. This time it was Rafa's turn. Considering that he had to face prime-time Federer from the very start of his career and later also Djokovic, it makes his 20 slams even more impressive. Who is the best will be forever a matter of opinion. But Rafa cannot be considered 2nd best anymore, he must be considered at least equal.

Sometimes people argue on who is the greatest of all times. My personal answer is Nadal. I'am not a fan of him. Nor the other 2 great players. They all have great skills, smartness and mental-physical endurance. The slight yet big difference with Nadal is he never gives up, he is never fed up, he is always on target like it is the first match of his career. The 3 great players are seperated from the rest with with their long lasting ambition of competition and long lasting ability to keep their concentration and motivation. The most successfull on this area is Nadal. Even going through the long period that he used to lose every single match against Djokovic he never gave up and fought till the last point. He never showed any sign of frustration. He did not make any excuses. He admired the capacity of the opponent but kept fighting. That is the spirit seperating him from the other 2 great players.

Nadal on Clay is one of the hardest , if not the hardest opponent in Tennis History to face against.
Nadal on Roland Garros Clay however, is one of the hardest opponent to face in sports history. 100-2. Thats like 98% win-rate on this Grand Slam court.

The first player in tennis history to win a 4 times GS titles without lose a set after 2008, 2010, 2017, incredible
And he doesn't win 7: 5 7: 6 (with a few exceptions), only 6: 0, 6: 1 6: 2 ... unimaginable
He can read a game better, he can do more with the ball than anyone else, he plays aerodynamically and is very clever tactically.

The difference between him and the others is so big on clay and especially in RG that even if he played with 50% of his ability he would win in 3 tight sets or in 4.
We will never see a player like that again, not even on other surfaces
We should be happy that we are living in this tennis time

Odd was against this man. The cold temperature, closed roof, humidity, new heavy balls, low bounce, no warm up matches behind him and then meeting the world number 1, who was brimming with confidence after the Rome title behind him. To defeat Djokovic in straight sets and a bagel shows what a beast Rafa is. People say about current Novak's dominance, Rafa today showed no matter what circumstances, no one can challenge him in Paris. Now, he completes his 100th win, equals Roger Federer 20th Grand Slams, 13th French Open title, what an achievement!! What a fighter!! what a champion!! King of Clay!! GOAT

Every Nadal fan would want to forget most of 2011 and the AO final 2012. I sat through those finals and it was heartbreaking how Novak upped his game ...and then the back injury in the final of AO2014 against Stan. Nadal fully deserves to be on 20 slams and I hope he doesn't stop 🐐
