Olivia de Havilland, to me, was the refinement of beauty, grace, and a class act. She have set a example for others, as well as I, to follow. I am grateful for the fact that she have lived this long for anyone or anybody who were not familiar with the Golden age of Hollywood, and her friendship with Bette Davis and rivalry with her sister Joan Fontaine. You will be immensely missed. RIP Melanie.

July 26-2020 not only claimed Corona victims, Ennio Morricone, Kobe etc. But now, it also took the life of one of the last surviving Hollywood legends! RIP Olivia
I literally just rewatched Gone with the Wind, due to HBO Max's temporary removal, just a few weeks ago! I loved the movie, and my mom & family would always spend at least once a year rewatching the movie. And not lying, I literally dreamt last night about Gone with the wind, and to my surprise, this happened. It was a bit Ironic that she died in the movie, but was one of the last surviving Cast members til today. Rest in Peace de Havilland. Gone with the Wind will always be one of my most favorite movies, like One Flew over the cuckoo's nest, Lawrence of Arabia, bridge over the River Kwai, LOTR, Chinatown, etc. I may be 24 years old, but I really love classic and old films!

Tribute to Olivia de Havilland By: Will Barber

Your pretty eyes and beautiful smile captivated movie-going audiences for over half a century.

Though you entered a male-dominated field, your perseverance and integrity enabled you to succeed.

At first, you were seen as an almost child-like actress with varying degrees of innocence.

However, you proved to the world that you were more than just a sympathetic character.

Nevertheless, your life and art mirrored each other in many ways.

Though your Character Melanie in 'Gone With the Wind' died in the film, you remained the last surviving Adult Cast Member.

Like Melanie, through all the ups and downs of life, you took everything with a smile and, as you said, "One must take what comes, with laughter."

In this crazy and hectic world, I think we could all note Melanie's example in 'Gone With the Wind'.

Melanie felt compassion for everyone, including her enemies. Even those she disagreed with, she did not shun. Most importantly, she lived for one thing, and that was love.

One may find it surprising that a man such as me, who is attracted to the testosterone-driven nature of Professional Wrestling and Horror films, could admire you. However, it is the balance of emotion that you portrayed in many of the characters that I found intriguing and your perseverance through life's struggles.

You fought hard to the end and lived over a century.

Though you may no longer be with us, your films are still here to view until the end of time.

You embodied the Golden Age of Hollywood and specific time on this earth.

A time, that like all different periods, stays with us through film and entertainment, but like anything, one day, it is simply GONE WITH THE WIND!!!

RIP Olivia de Havilland!!!

RIP to an extraordinary and beautiful actress who ever graced the silver screen!
For the past year or two, I've been hoping photographer Annie Leibovitz would get some of the Oscar winning actresses who are legends and also some legendary nominee's for a classy group photoshoot.
I was thinking of having these actresses in it
Olivia de Havilland
Sophia Loren
Cicely Tyson
Jane Fonda
Catherine Deneuve
Rita Moreno
Glenn Close
Helen Mirren
Shohreh Aghdashloo
Joanna Woodward
Eva Marie Saint
Louise Fletcher
Fernanda Montenegro
Alfre Woodward
and Diana Ross (Yes, Diana! I think she was brilliant in "Lady Sings the Blues")
These are my picks!
I know Leibovitz has done an Oscar photoshoot like this back in 2000, but it would have been awesome to get some of these actresses for a photoshoot similar to that one.

They can still do it, but better hurry up, though.

Now she is 104 and going strong. Gone With the Wind, I remember when it came to my home town for a showing. This well after 1939 but 1966 out on my first date with a drivers license. I doubt there will ever be a view as it is on the big screen. No large screen or surround sound system will beat that night. The theater was packed for close to 3 weeks every night. Her appearance in North & South was huge.

For those of us who are old enough to remember Olivia de Havilland was one of the finest mover stars ever. I grew up with her and Errol Flynn in the Adventures of Robin Hood. I remember the first time "Gone With The Wind" played at a local theater in Wilmington, NC. I was a senior in high school and I took my date to see the most exciting movie ever made. This has been a day of recalling many old memories. There are a number of excellent actors and actress' who I feel are all time greats. Yes, this great lady will be 104 come July 1, 2020. Her gentile way is what I will always remember about her. I first saw her at the age of 7 watching The Adventures of Robin Hood and now as I am about to be 70 she is still a fine lady. For whoever took the time to make his small segment available I thank you, I have booked marked this as I tend to go down memory lane on occasion. I live today but I will never forget yesterday's of my life.

I hope they invite Dame Olivia de Havilland next year to SOLELY present the Best Picture winner to commemorate the 80th anniversary since the premiere of "Gone with the Wind". Believe it or not the last time a woman solely presented the Best Picture award was in 1991, it was Barbra Streisand in which Dancing with Wolves won. You see the lack of diversity is all over not just in terms of racial representation.

And what's crazy is that there's a whole lot of way more titanic female personalities whom they can get to present the Best Picture yet in 2012 they chose such mediocre and one dimensional actor Tom Cruise, while they could have invited Maureen O'Hara, as the female lead of "How Green is My Valley", to commemorate its 70th anniversary since it won the Best Picture, to those who don't know what film is it, it's best known for beating "Citizen Kane", which is often regarded as the Greatest Movie ever made. No doubt the Academy didn't upload the video of The Artist winning Best Picture. It's plainly facepalm-worthy!
