Was a beautiful service . I only wished the young people today could've watched it and maybe used John Lewis legacy as an assignment . Parents of all races , teach your kids about where you've been and how the civil Rights movement may have molded you today.

About Representative John Lewis, a wonderful man, a remarkable leader, a beacon of light in the world, and a true American patriot, all President Donald Trump had to say about him at the time of his memorial shortly after his passing was, "He didn't come to my inaugural. He didn't come to my State of the Union speeches."

When I was a kid I and my sisters and brother would watch this cartoon about capital hill and how votes were passed. Guess what Lewis's body lays on Capital Hill . I also remember the black national anthem on channel 7 at 10 pm and then the blue, red.white, yellow, green, black and other colors would come across the screen and the TV station would end till morning.

By John Lewis
Mr. Lewis, the civil rights leader who died on July 17, wrote this essay shortly before his death, to be published upon the day of his funeral.

July 30, 2020

While my time here has now come to an end, I want you to know that in the last days and hours of my life you inspired me. You filled me with hope about the next chapter of the great American story when you used your power to make a difference in our society. Millions of people motivated simply by human compassion laid down the burdens of division. Around the country and the world you set aside race, class, age, language and nationality to demand respect for human dignity.

That is why I had to visit Black Lives Matter Plaza in Washington, though I was admitted to the hospital the following day. I just had to see and feel it for myself that, after many years of silent witness, the truth is still marching on.

Emmett Till was my George Floyd. He was my Rayshard Brooks, Sandra Bland and Breonna Taylor. He was 14 when he was killed, and I was only 15 years old at the time. I will never ever forget the moment when it became so clear that he could easily have been me. In those days, fear constrained us like an imaginary prison, and troubling thoughts of potential brutality committed for no understandable reason were the bars.

Though I was surrounded by two loving parents, plenty of brothers, sisters and cousins, their love could not protect me from the unholy oppression waiting just outside that family circle. Unchecked, unrestrained violence and government-sanctioned terror had the power to turn a simple stroll to the store for some Skittles or an innocent morning jog down a lonesome country road into a nightmare. If we are to survive as one unified nation, we must discover what so readily takes root in our hearts that could rob Mother Emanuel Church in South Carolina of her brightest and best, shoot unwitting concertgoers in Las Vegas and choke to death the hopes and dreams of a gifted violinist like Elijah McClain.

Like so many young people today, I was searching for a way out, or some might say a way in, and then I heard the voice of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on an old radio. He was talking about the philosophy and discipline of nonviolence. He said we are all complicit when we tolerate injustice. He said it is not enough to say it will get better by and by. He said each of us has a moral obligation to stand up, speak up and speak out. When you see something that is not right, you must say something. You must do something. Democracy is not a state. It is an act, and each generation must do its part to help build what we called the Beloved Community, a nation and world society at peace with itself.

Ordinary people with extraordinary vision can redeem the soul of America by getting in what I call good trouble, necessary trouble. Voting and participating in the democratic process are key. The vote is the most powerful nonviolent change agent you have in a democratic society. You must use it because it is not guaranteed. You can lose it.

You must also study and learn the lessons of history because humanity has been involved in this soul-wrenching, existential struggle for a very long time. People on every continent have stood in your shoes, through decades and centuries before you. The truth does not change, and that is why the answers worked out long ago can help you find solutions to the challenges of our time. Continue to build union between movements stretching across the globe because we must put away our willingness to profit from the exploitation of others.

Though I may not be here with you, I urge you to answer the highest calling of your heart and stand up for what you truly believe. In my life I have done all I can to demonstrate that the way of peace, the way of love and nonviolence is the more excellent way. Now it is your turn to let freedom ring.

When historians pick up their pens to write the story of the 21st century, let them say that it was your generation who laid down the heavy burdens of hate at last and that peace finally triumphed over violence, aggression and war. So I say to you, walk with the wind, brothers and sisters, and let the spirit of peace and the power of everlasting love be your guide.

I cannot cross the Pettitus bridge, but I can cross the road and Vote. Thank Mr. Lewis. I cannot withstand the hoses, the dogs, the bullets the inhumanity and shame. But I can March and protest and sing We Shall Overcome arm with others who Truly believe that "All Men (Women) are created Equal." Thank you Mr. Lewis. I cannot stand in front of 100,000s and proclaim that Truth, Justice and Liberty are for All Mankind. But I can gain knowledge and a education that can Never be stolen, beaten, bullied away from my Mind, Body and Soul. Thank you Mr. Lewis. I cannot change the dark history of this country. But I can study it, defend it, honor it and do my Best to see that it Never repeats itself for generations to come. Thank you Mr. Lewis. I cannot stay Out of trouble. But I can get into Good Trouble wading in the waters that flowed from the power of hoses onto the streets of days gone by. Thank you Mr. Lewis. Well done thy Good and Faithful servant. 💜

Foundational Black Americans are complicit in becoming Codified. Our platform for changing our economic disparities is to demand the debts owed to us, from the United States in the form of
“ Reparations “ ( Tangibles ) money.
“ Cut the dam Check period full stop. “ We are not interested in listening to superfluous exploratory committees, So, stop with the charades ( knock that shyt off. )
What you need to do, is tell us
when and how we going to receive reparations. Another issues, is that thorough studies on reparations have already been done on by a number of study groups for years, and it is with this regard we find these committee regurgitating, and redundant, because history of human rights violations have already been established and at some point resolved with a guilty conviction.
Another thing to address, and that is If some y'all Foundational Black Americans don’t agree with the manor by which reparations are distributed in the form of tangibles and you decide no to participate and forfeit your claim. That’s ( fine ) but do not publicly speak out against those who intended to pursue their rightful claims. As far as the the next elections in 2020 is concerned regardless of which president candidates wins, it"s makes no difference to us, what we want is, what is rightfully inherited to us by our ancestors, Reparations must be paid to the descendants of slaves.
Note :
The economic gap between whites and Blacks in the United States is well over 80,000 k if not more, and the gap is getting exponentially larger. Family we do NOT have a lot of time for idiosyncratic distractions, orchestrated by the white Media and their Black proxy minion sellouts.

Many people are praising the funeral and of course someone passed so condolences are always in order...but it's key to note that the supposive minister compared Mr Lewis a mere mortal to Jesus Christ....we can never be Christ and although many are praising Beyonce's record which is simply marketing.... everyone should know that no race is royalty we are simply humans with many flaws daily and we will never be like Jesus.... Jesus is King and shed innocent Blood for all and none of us deserved it whether we say we believe or not humanity can never come close even if they tried to the sacrifice of Christ

The Rev. Warnock at the beginning said there will be one last trump. I hope everyone caught that. It was said for a special reason. Its symbolic that John Robert Lewis funeral was held in the same sanctuary where he witnessed his good friend and motivator Martin Luther King Jr be memorialized 52 years earlier. What a historic pivotal moment.

John Lewis will be remembered as someone who stood by while Democrats brought hate, racism, and divisiveness back in the USA. Touching military tribute for someone who never earned it.
